Dec 23th 2021 at 07:48:12This is Portfolio Recovery, and they are a collection agency. They are trying to collect on an account that is closed. They are using a phone number with an area code that is the same as mine to trick me into answering the call. I tell them the account's closed, and to stop calling me. But, they don't care, they keep calling almost every week. Usually, I don't answer. The only thing I can do is block the calls on my phone, but then they figure it out, and use a different number. They only ring once or twice and hangup. When I don't answer, they don't always leave a message. They used to leave messages asking me to call back, but I never do. The messages they used to leave go something like this: “It is urgent that I call us”. But, recently, they have changed their approach and left messages like: “We know what it is like dealing with a debt in these hard times and that we are prepared to assist you”. . . “Please, call us back and speak with one of our associates”.
